“I had questions that were bothering me…”

My story:

I always felt like I was a person of faith, but I still had some doubts. I was looking for answers to questions that a secular person cannot find. I looked into religion hoping to find answers to the questions that were bothering me. So I started researching.

I bought a lot of holy books, I obeyed their requirements, I adopted the daily routine ceremonies as the orthodox rabbis stipulate. But the deeper I got into it, the more I started seeing contradictions, and I began to feel they were trying to “sell” me things that contradict logic. God loves us, of this I have no doubt. I felt that Rabbinic Judaism controls people, it’s very strict and hides things from us. There are more “no”s than “yes”s—much more is forbidden than permitted.

God gave us a wonderful world, not on the condition that we’d become his slaves, but as a gift, out of love and compassion. It didn’t work out for me with Judaism which I found prickly and intolerant. I started researching some more. Fortunately all the information is easily accessible today.

I met an amazing guy who told me about Jesus. So now I’m getting to know an intriguing, compassionate, loving, and promising character. I’ve been reading the real Bible, and think that Judaism without a doubt also has beautiful sides. But there is also a secret side. Things that are not taught in school. Apart from that (and perhaps this may sound banal) but how could it be that billions of believers are wrong?

What to know

  • This man says, “fortunately all the information is accessible today,” and he’s right! We make sure the truth about Yeshua is easy to find on the internet.
  • Many Jewish people know a little about Yeshua, but not much at all. Discovering the truth about who He is and what He said is life changing.
  • Judaism certainly has beautiful and virtuous aspects as well as a “prickly” side, as he puts it.

How to Pray

  • Please pray for this man to find Yeshua — not just through ideas in books, but in truth and in his own life.
  • Pray for Jewish people to realize that there is more to God than “do’s and don’ts”, and to start searching.
  • Praise God that it really is easy to access information about Yeshua today, and it’s possible to get hold of the New Testament.
  • Pray for those choosing to follow Yeshua in Israel – the first steps can often require a lot of courage as friends and family may strongly reject their decision.
