What Would Moses Do?

“Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will not pass away” (Mark 13:31).

One simple test with reference to the Hebrew Bible helps us to realize Yeshua’s surpassing greatness. We just need to ask this simple question: “What would Moses do?”

Would Moses or any of the prophets for that matter ever say “Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will not pass away?”

Or perhaps put another way: COULD Moses or any of the other prophets ever say such a thing? The answer is clear. NO! For if they did, they would be guilty of blasphemy. But do we know anyone at all in the Hebrew Bible who could, and in fact does say such things?

“The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God stands forever” (Isa 40:8).

“So will My word be which goes forth from My mouth; it will not return to Me empty, without accomplishing what I desire, and without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it” (Isa 55:11).

This simple test not only reveals Yeshua’s true identity but also makes indifference to Yeshua’s word the height of human folly. But on the flip side: those who recognize Yeshua’s true biblical identity and cherish his every word will be just like it! They will stand forever!

“Therefore everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them, may be compared to a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and yet it did not fall, for it had been founded on the rock. Everyone who hears these words of Mine and does not act on them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. The rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and it fell — and great was its fall” (Matt 7:24-27).
