“Let us go up against Judah and terrorize it, and make for ourselves a breach in its walls and set up the son of Tabeel as king in the midst of it” (Isa 7:6).
The kings of Samaria and Aram wanted to forcibly remove the Davidic king from his God-given throne, and in his place, put a puppet-king who would do their bidding. We know nothing about this man other than his ridiculous name, “Tabeel,” which means “Good for Nothing.” Satan continues to rage against the throne of David till this very day, and desires nothing better than to “terrorize” God’s people and paralyze us with fear (Isa 7:1-2). But we stand against an empty threat, for Satan is challenging the most secure throne in the universe. God’s response to every “Good for Nothing” is “Immanuel,” “God with us” (Isa 7:14). And if God is with us, who can be against us?! ”
Devise a plan, but it will be thwarted; State a proposal, but it will not stand, For God is with us” (Isa 8:10).
